About Prime Care Group

Prime Care Group was established just over 30 years ago by our founder, Nizar Baloo.

As a youngster, Nizar had cared for his elderly relative and was disappointed at the lack of homely local care services.

He set up Prime Care, initially with one facility in Sutton. Today, Prime Care operates two care homes in South Croydon and Streatham, employing around 500 staff and providing nursing and residential care for more than 150 older people in these local communities.

We are proud to be one of the leading small homely independent care providers in these areas and we have won a series of prestigious awards for our commitment to care quality and people development.

How are we different to other care home providers?

At Prime Care Group we have always set out to do things a little differently.

We are intentionally small – and proud of our commitment to providing exceptional nursing and residential care across our two care homes in South London.

When you visit any one of our homes we think you will notice the Prime difference.

That’s because we are not a large anonymous, corporate organisation – instead we offer the highest standards of personalised care in a home from home setting.

We ensure everything we do is focussed on the wellbeing and enjoyment of our residents.

Because when you or a member of your family come to live at a Prime Care home, it should feel like a real home from home experience.

Each bedroom is attractively furnished with its own en-suite but we encourage each of our residents to decorate and personalise their rooms and bring furniture, pictures, and lots of their belongings with them to create a homely space where they can feel they truly belong.

Our residents have the freedom to be themselves and to take each day as it comes. We try not to have strict rules and policies and there’s no requirement to be up and out of bed and in a certain place at a certain time. If a resident would like a lie-in and breakfast in bed, that’s absolutely fine – we are happy to make it happen!

Prime Care Group chefs

Our chefs really go out of their way to cater for each and every resident’s tastes. Nothing is too much trouble – we prepare all our food from scratch each day and if someone has a particular fancy – whether its sausages, smoked salmon or strawberries – that’s not a problem, we are happy to prepare individual meals to order.

Each of our homes has its own activity co-ordinator. We provide a full and varied programme of activities. We also encourage our residents to help us with ideas for activities they would like to get involved with.

Our home from home approach extends to our residents’ nearest and dearest. You will always receive a warm welcome from us. There are no set visiting times and you are free to meet your loved one wherever they feel most comfortable – that could be in our garden on a sunny day, in one of our comfortable lounges, or in the resident’s own room – wherever our residents wish, is fine by us.

Prime Care Group Covid measures

During the Covid pandemic, we have put in place stringent measures to ensure that our residents and care staff are properly protected but we also recognise that social contact with relatives is paramount for our residents’ mental and emotional wellbeing. We have moved mountains to ensure that throughout the pandemic our doors were never closed to relatives.
